DIRECTIONS TO THUNDERBIRD PARK FOR QRP EVENTS
All interested hams in or visiting the Phoenix area are welcome to attend and participate. Use the temporary entrance to the park on 67th Avenue just north of Deer Valley. This entrance is at a traffic light. The operating area is at the top of the hill you pass as you go through the parking area. You can drive up to the operating area. Take a right turn at the Tee in the road and your next stop will be the operating area.
The normal entrance to the park is located about 1 ½ miles North of Highway 101 on 59th Avenue in Glendale, AZ, but is closed while it is under reconstruction. The turn into the park is beyond the housing areas and in the curve as you ascend into the hills. You will see an amphitheater on your left. Turn west into the park and take an immediate right turn. Follow this road to a stop sign at a dry creek. Turn right and follow the road as it ascends only. Do not take any descending turns. The road will end in the area where the stations are to be set up.
